Daniel Bumann

Daniel Bumann (born December 19, 1958 in Basel ; resident in Saas-Fee ) is a Swiss cook and television presenter .

Career as a chef

Bumann grew up in his parents' inn above Saas-Fee VS. He completed his apprenticeship as a chef in Leukerbad . After completing his training, he deepened his specialist knowledge in various restaurants. Between 1981 and 1990 he was head chef in two first-class houses. During this time, he completed the higher technical examination to become a federally certified chef and became world champion and Olympic champion.

In December 1990 Bumann opened his first restaurant in Naters VS - the Bumanns Kulinarium, which he successfully ran for five years. Since 1995 he and his wife Ingrid Bumann-Jossen have been running their own fine dining restaurant Bumanns Chesa Pirani in La Punt near St. Moritz . Bumanns Chesa Pirani was one of the ten best restaurants in Switzerland until it closed in April 2017.

  • Currently: 18 Gault-Millau points and 2 stars in the Guide Rouge Michelin .

Work as a television presenter

Since 2009 he has been engaged in the off-season for the largest Swiss private television station 3 plus . In Bumann the restaurant tester he works out strategies to save restaurants with problems. The show is an adaptation of Rach, the restaurant tester , or the original English Gordon Ramsay: Chef without mercy .
