Daniel David Burgdorfer
Daniel David Burgdorfer (born June 19, 1800 in Bern , † June 15, 1861 in Lausanne ) was a Swiss painter , engraver , watercolorist and drawing teacher .
Life
Daniel David Burgdorfer was born as the son of the art and bookseller Johann Jakob Burgdorfer from Eggiwil , Canton Bern . He began his apprenticeship in 1818 in Bern with the miniaturist Pierre-Louis Bouvier (1765–1836).
He also learned the art of copperplate engraving from Friedrich Geissler in Nuremberg . Burgdorfer exhibited his works at art exhibitions in 1824, 1830 and 1840. In 1834 he moved to Lausanne, where he married Marie Louise Françoise Genton. In 1849 he was appointed drawing teacher in a girls' school in Lausanne and held this post until 1859.
