Daniel "Dan" Del Monte (born September 8, 1975 in Burlington , Ontario ) is a German - Canadian ice hockey player who played with the Hannover Indians from the 2nd division until November 2009 .

Career

The 1.71 m tall striker has been a professional ice hockey player in Germany since 1996. The then 21-year-old came from Asiago, Italy, to EHC Neuwied in the 1st League North . He had previously played in the North American Junior League Ontario Hockey League for the Peterborough Petes and the Sarnia Sting . In Neuwied he posted 98 points scorer in his first year. In the summer of 1997 he moved to Eastern Bavaria for EV Weiden in the 1st League South, where he achieved 66 points. His next stop was EC Bad Nauheim . There he formed in the 1998/99 season with Marc West and Dino Felicetti the best attack line in the league and scored a total of 78 points.

Subsequently, he moved again to Upper Bavaria for league rivals Bad Aibling . Further career stations in the following years were the EHC Freiburg (2000/01), again the EC Bad Nauheim (2001/02) and another season in Freiburg (2002/03). From 2003 to November 2005 he went on the ice for REV Bremerhaven before he then joined Adler Mannheim from the German Ice Hockey League , where he played his first games in the top German division. For the 2006/07 season he signed a contract with EV Duisburg . Before his contract in Duisburg ran out at the end of the season, he moved to the 2nd Bundesliga in January 2007 with the Kassel Huskies , with whom he was promoted to the DEL. Between 2008 and November 2009 Del Monte played for the Hanover Indians, with whom he made it to the 2nd Bundesliga.

Injuries

Del Monte, who is characterized by his good technique and his fast game, has often had health problems in his career. Including 2001/2002 in Bad Nauheim: Suspected myocarditis, as well as a serious leg injury that threatened to endanger his career. For the last 3 years he had to struggle with severe groin complaints - in 2003/2004 he was absent for three consecutive months because of this. These complaints were corrected by an operation in Mannheim at the end of March 2006.
