Daniel Dor

Daniel Dor (* 1986 in Tel Aviv ) is an Israeli jazz musician ( drums ).

Live and act

Dor was born into a family of musicians and artists and was a small child on the tours of his parents' vocal band. He initially received piano lessons, but was fascinated by drums from an early age; at the age of ten he received private lessons. After studying at Thelma-Yellin High School and the Rimon School for Jazz and Contemporary Music in Israel, he graduated with honors from the New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music in New York.

Since 2013 Dor belongs to the band of Avishai Cohen ( From Darkness ); He is currently on tour with Ken Thomson's sextet . He has also performed with Kurt Rosenwinkel , Noa , Billy Harper , Matisyahu, Robert Sadin, Diego Urcola and Dorantes and played at numerous jazz festivals around the world, including the North Sea Jazz Festival , the Bern Jazz Festival, the IASJ Festival and the IAJE Jazz festival. He can also be heard on albums by Nitai Hershkovits , Daniel Zamir and Shachar Elnatan. In 2019 he is also a member of Itamar Borochov's quartet .

Prizes and awards

In 2007 Dor won first prize at the national “Jazz Player of the Year Competition” while studying at the Rimon School . He has also received three scholarships from the America-Israel Culture Foundation and three Eubie Blake Scholarship Fund Merits for his exceptional talents and skills.
