Daniel Fetzner

Daniel Fetzner (born August 1, 1966 in Baden-Baden ) is a German media scientist and media artist who conducts artistic research on the phenomenology of media in translocal spaces and interactive web documentation.

Life

Fetzner studied architecture and combined media studies in Munich , London and Berlin . From 2002 to 2014 he taught as a professor at the Furtwangen University in the Black Forest . In 2007 he was a visiting professor at the San Francisco State University (SFSU) and a guest artist at the Center for Art and Media Technology (ZKM) in Karlsruhe. From 2009 to 2011 he was head of the Media Design Department at the German University in Cairo (GUC). In 2012 Fetzner was visiting professor at the Srishti School of Art, Design and Technology, Bangalore. In 2014 he was appointed to a W3 professorship for artistic research at the Offenburg University of Applied Sciences . Since 2015 head of the local laboratory for media ecology and lecturer for media ethnography at the Albert Ludwigs University of Freiburg.

Daniel Fetzner's works include artistic interventions, interactive works and room installations. In 1995 he founded the term eV group with Sebastian Finckh to promote media construction sites. In 2004 he and Stefan Selke initiated the center for image, space and interaction research. In 2008 Daniel Fetzner founded the interdisciplinary research group mbody with Monica Alarcon and Martin Dornberg for artistic research in media, somatics, dance and philosophy. Fetzner is a member of the Society for Media Studies, the International Visual Sociology Association and an associated member of the Institute for Media Culture Studies at the University of Freiburg. Fetzner has been running the metaspace.de blog since 2001.
