Daniel Forrer (born July 31, 1981 ) is a former Swiss ski racer and telemarker .

Career

Forrer began his career in alpine skiing in 1996 and was active in FIS races and national championships until 2002 . In 2008 he started his international career as a telemarker. On December 13, 2008, he made his debut in the Telemark World Cup . He also managed to win World Cup points straight away on the slopes in Les Houches . On January 17th, 2009 in Kobla he made it onto the podium for the first time with third place in the Classic Sprint. At his first Telemark World Championships in 2009 in Kreischberg , he reached 17th place in the giant slalom. He finished sixth in the Classic race and seventh in the Classic Sprint. At the Swiss Championships in Telemark 2009 he won the gold medal ahead of Martin Welten and Bruno Sumi . In the 2010 season, with a few exceptions, he was regularly among the top ten and thus achieved sixth place in the overall World Cup standings at the end of the season.

At the Swiss Telemark Championships in Gstaad in 2010 , he won the gold medal ahead of Bastien Dayer and Martin Welten . In his last season in 2011 , he only entered World Cup action at the fourth World Cup in Thyon, Switzerland . He achieved results in midfield except in Espot , Spain , where he finished fifth in the Classic Sprint and finished 17th in the overall World Cup standings. At his second Telemark World Championship in Rjukan in 2011 , he finished sixth in the giant slalom, fifth in the classic race and fourth in the classic sprint. After world championships he ended his sporting career in telemark.
