The 2009 Telemark World Championships of the World Ski Federation FIS took place from January 21st to 24th, 2009 at Kreischberg near Murau (Austria).

The World Championships were awarded in autumn 2007 at an FIS conference in Bariloche, Argentina . The slopes and other facilities that were built for the 2003 Snowboard World Championship were used for the Telemark World Championships on Kreischberg . A Telemark World Cup was held as a dress rehearsal in January 2008.

Almost 200 athletes from 18 countries took part in the competitions. The races were broadcast live on the Internet, the ORF showed summaries as part of its ski broadcasts and reports in the Styria edition of Bundesland heute .
