Daniel Goleman (born March 7, 1946 in Stockton , California , USA ) is an American psychologist who became known as a science journalist.

Act

Goleman taught as a clinical psychologist at Harvard University . He was the editor of Psychology Today and the editor of psychology and neuroscience for the New York Times . In 1994, Goleman founded the CASEL organization together with Eileen Growald. He became known through his book EQ , published in 1995 . Emotional intelligence that became an international bestseller . In 2006 he followed up with a book entitled Social Intelligence , in which interpersonal interaction and behavior in social contexts are in the foreground.

Goleman is one of the scientists involved in the Mind and Life Institute conferences . In 1990 he was the scientific director of Mind and Life III, which focused on the relationship between emotions and health. Daniel Goleman was editor of the volume reporting on Mind and Life III under the title The Healing Power of Emotions: Conversations with the Dalai Lama on Mindfulness, Emotion and Health .

He was also the Scientific Coordinator of the 8th Conference, which took place in March 2000. Participants at this conference were: Tendzin Gyatsho (Dalai Lama) , Richard J. Davidson , Paul Ekman , Owen Flanagan , Mark Greenberg , Geshe Thupten Jinpa , Matthieu Ricard , Jeanne L. Tsai , Francisco J. Varela and B. Alan Wallace . Goleman documented this conference and published it in the book Dialogue with the Dalai Lama - How We Can Overcome Destructive Emotions .
