Daniel Hay du Chastelet

Daniel Hay du Chastelet (born October 23, 1596 in Laval , † April 20, 1671 ibid) was a French Roman Catholic clergyman, Commendatar abbot and member of the Académie française .

life and work

Daniel Hay du Chastelet, the younger brother of Paul Hay du Chastelet , was a doctor of theology and dean of the church of Saint-Tugal in Laval, which has now disappeared, as well as pastor of Andouillé (15 km north of Laval), also an official (judicial vicar ) in the diocese Le Mans . In 1635, following his brother's entourage, he was elected to the Académie française (seat no. 37). He was Commendatabbot of the Abbey of Notre-Dame de Chambon in Mauzé-Thouarsais and Prior of the Priory of Sainte-Croix in Vitré . Almost no writings have survived.
