Daniel Jenny (entrepreneur, 1789)
Daniel Jenny (born September 2, 1789 in Ennenda ; † February 8, 1860 there , reformed , entitled to live in Ennenda) was a Swiss entrepreneur .
Life
Daniel Jenny was born on September 2, 1789 in Ennenda as the son of Pfister Johann Balthasar, Pfister. Daniel Jenny, who received only a rudimentary education, showed technical talent. In 1815 Jenny took part in the siege of Hüningen as a soldier and wagon master of the 3rd company of the Glarus Battalion .
As a result, Daniel Jenny built one of the first mechanical spinning mills between 1822 and 1823 . In addition, he acquired the water rights to use the village stream of Ennenda for a cotton spinning mill with around 2000 spindles . He received financial help from his uncles, the Kundert brothers from Glarus , with whom he formed the Jenny & Kundert company . In addition, Jenny was used as treasure bailiff and councilor .
Daniel Jenny married Sophia in 1809, the daughter of the weighing master Kaspar Zweifel. He died on February 8, 1860 at the age of 70 in Ennenda.
