Daniel Kurth (born October 27, 1973 in Eberswalde-Finow ) is a German politician ( SPD ). He is the district administrator of the Barnim district .

After finishing school and doing community service, Daniel Kurth performed various activities in the service of the city of Eberswalde . After studying part-time with a degree in administrative management, he last worked in the administration of the Barnim district.

In 1989 Kurth was one of the founders of the Green Party in the GDR . He joined the SPD in 1996. From 2006 to 2015 Kurth was chairman of the Eberswalde local SPD association and since 2010 he has been chairman of the Barnimer SPD. He has been a member of the city council of Eberswalde since 2014. In the state elections in Brandenburg in 2014 he won the direct mandate in parliament constituency Barnim I . Within the SPD parliamentary group, the domestic politician was working group chairman and deputy parliamentary group chairman. In the state parliament he was a full member of the Committee for Internal Affairs and Local Affairs. On July 31, 2018, he resigned from the Brandenburg state parliament .

On July 4, 2018, he was elected district administrator of the Barnim district with 33 out of 54 votes and won in the first ballot against Othmar Nickel (CDU). He took up this position on August 1, 2018.
