Daniel McDonald Lowey (born October 28, 1878 in Maughold , Isle of Man , † April 7, 1951 in Liverpool ) was a British tug of war .
biography
Daniel McDonald Lowey was a member of the Liverpool City Police's tug-of-war team at the 1908 Olympics . They won their first competition against the United States. After the Americans lost their first train, they protested the Liverpoolers' shoes. However, this was rejected, which is why the Americans withdrew from the competition. In the semifinals, Liverpool defeated the Swedes and advanced to the final. There the team was defeated by the City of London Police team and thus won silver.
