Daniel McKinnon

Daniel Duncan McKinnon (born April 21, 1922 in Williams , Minnesota - † August 6, 2017 in Grand Forks , North Dakota ) was an American ice hockey player .

Career

Daniel McKinnon attended the University of North Dakota from 1947 to 1950 . He then took part in the US national ice hockey team at the 1955 and 1958 World Championships and at the 1956 Winter Olympics in Cortina d'Ampezzo . At the 1956 Winter Games, he and his team won the silver medal. Following his international career, he was active in amateur hockey, but had to end his career early in 1958 after a serious hunting accident in which part of one of his hands was amputated. He was inducted into the UND Sports Hall of Fame in 1982.
