Daniel Montorio
Daniel Montorio Fajó (born January 4, 1904 in Huesca , † March 24, 1982 in Madrid ) was a Spanish composer , u. a. for film music.
Life
Montorio comes from a family with five children and grew up in difficult financial circumstances. His father, a guitar player, died when Montorio was 14 years old. His interest in music found expression in his first lessons with Alejandro Crowns , who taught him music theory and piano. Thanks to a scholarship, he was able to continue studying at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Madrid . In 1928 he had won several prizes as a master class student and from then on composed numerous musical works, often for stage productions. The well-known Soy minero work is by Montorio. He also wrote film music - in the early years of Spanish sound film, as throughout the 1930s, he was one of the most sought-after artists in this profession. His music is described as light, catchy and descriptive. Director Benito Perojo worked with Montorio several times.
Montorio also wrote ballet music and operettas as well as zarzuelas (¡Eres un sol !, 1949).
