Lorne Peterson

Lorne Peterson (* before 1977 in Vancouver , Canada ) is a Canadian model maker for special effects, the 1985 Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom an Oscar in the category Best Visual Effects received.

Life

He studied art at California State University , Long Beach . He then ran a successful industrial design studio that created sculptures for McDonaldland. In December 1975 he began to work as a model maker in the model workshop of Industrial Light & Magic . At the beginning he created rubber molds for the movie Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope . He also had an extra role in the film as Massassi Base Rebel Scout . He was also involved in all other films in the Star Wars saga and in the Disney attraction Star Tours .

In 1985 he received an Oscar and a BAFTA Award for Best Visual Effects for Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom . In the next 25 years he was involved in numerous blockbusters as a model builder, including films such as Ghost - Message from Sam , Jurassic Park , The Day After Tomorrow and War of the Worlds .

In 2006 his book Sculpting a Galaxy: Inside the Star Wars Model Shop was published, in which he describes his work on the Star Wars saga and goes into the models made for it.
