Emmanuel Rutz
Emmanuel Rutz OSB (* as Elmar Rutz on August 9, 1972 in Wolfertswil , Canton St. Gallen ) is a Swiss religious priest and abbot of St. Otmarsberg .
Life
Elmar Rutz came from the marriage of the farming family Franz and Hedi Rutz from Wolfertswil. He has five brothers and two sisters. First he learned the profession of cheese maker , passed the master craftsman examination and ran a cheese dairy in Bütschwil .
He joined the Benedictine Order in 2000 . He made his profession on March 19, 2002 , where he took the religious name Emmanuel . On August 21, 2005, he took his perpetual vows and studied theology at the late vocational seminar St. Lambert at Lantershofen Castle near Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler . He completed language training in England.
He was ordained priest on June 28, 2008 by Markus Büchel , Bishop of St. Gallen. On July 6th, 2008 he celebrated his home primacy in the Brother Klaus Church in Wolfertswil.
In 2010 he became subprior, novice master and archivist. He also held the office of pastor of the Maria Bildstein pilgrimage site . He was spiritual on pilgrimages to Lourdes and is the editor of the pilgrimage magazine AVE. He is the President of the Nursing Association.
On March 9, 2013, the Missionary Benedictines in St. Otmarsberg in Uznach, the youngest abbey in Switzerland, under the chairmanship of Abbot President Jeremias Schröder, elected him as the third abbot of the monastery. The election was for an indefinite period. He succeeded Marian Eleganti rsp. Adelrich dust, Prior administrator since 2010. The blessing he received by Bishop Markus Büchel on May 12, 2013 St. Otmarsberg. His abbot motto is "Together in the school of Christ".
