Daniel Muñoz Díaz ( 1925 - December 18, 2010 ), also known by the nickname Carnes ( German meat ), was a Mexican football player in the position of the striker .

Life

"Carnes" Muñoz was one of the most successful strikers during the "golden era" of football in Orizaba after the introduction of the Mexican professional league in the 1940s. He first played for the ADO and then for their city ​​rivals Moctezuma . With the latter club, he first won the Mexican Cup competition in 1947 and then the Supercup .

His first goal in the Mexican Primera División he scored in the 2-1 away win of the ADO against the Tiburones Rojos de Veracruz on January 7, 1945. On November 24, 1945 he scored his first "brace" in the 3: 3 against Atlante . A week later, on December 2, 1945, he scored his second brace in a 5-1 win over Club America . In the 3-1 win against Real Club España on December 30, 1945, he even scored all three goals for his team.

Another "three" he succeeded in Moctezuma's 6-4 victory against Club San Sebastián on May 11, 1947. Although he scored all goals in a period of just ten minutes (between the 27th and 37th minute), he stayed a flawless hat trick failed because Juan José Novo from San Sebastián was also successful in between.

Since suffering a stroke in 1998 , Muñoz had been paralyzed on one side and could no longer speak. After a long period of suffering, he died on December 18, 2010 of complications from pneumonia .
