Daniel Ottensamer (born July 26, 1986 in Vienna ) is an Austrian clarinetist .

Live and act

He completed his studies with Johann Hindler at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna with distinction. Since 2006 Daniel Ottensamer has been working as a clarinetist in the orchestra of the Vienna Philharmonic and in the Vienna State Opera . Since 2009 he has been solo clarinetist.

Ottensamer was a prizewinner at the “Carl Nielsen International Clarinet Competition” in Denmark in 2009, together with Philipp Grzondziel winner of the international clarinet competition of the “Animato Foundation” in Zurich in 2006, prizewinner of the International Grand Prize for Clarinet of the Munich Concert Society 2005, and winner of the “Musica” Juventutis "competition in Vienna 2004.

As a soloist he has performed with the Munich Radio Orchestra , the Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra , the Vienna Chamber Orchestra and the Odense Symphony Orchestra.

He also devotes himself to chamber music . The clarinet trio "The Clarinotts", founded together with his father Ernst Ottensamer (principal clarinet of the Vienna Philharmonic) and his brother Andreas Ottensamer ( principal clarinet of the Berlin Philharmonic ), had set itself the goal of bringing the literature for this line-up closer to the audience.

The collaboration with Angelika Kirchschlager , Barbara Bonney , Mihaela Ursuleasa and Julian Rachlin also shaped Daniel Ottensamer.
