Daniel Marceau Prévost (born October 20, 1939 in Garches , Paris ) is a French humorist , theater and film actor .

Life

Prévost was born in the Garches district of Paris in 1939 and grew up in a working-class environment without a father. It was only at the age of 35 that he learned from a dying aunt that his father was a Kabyle from Algeria . As a child, he wrote poetry to come to terms with his grandmother's death. After studying for three years at the École de la rue Blanche, one of three national drama schools in France, he was often seen on the stage in Molière's plays from the 1960s . When he appeared in Robert Rocca's Un certain monsieur Blot in 1964 , he met the director Jean Yanne and the actor Michel Serrault , with whom he later worked several times. In 1966 he stood in front of the film camera for the first time. Since then he has appeared in more than 70 films, mostly in supporting comedic roles. However, he became known on French television through the satirical show Le Petit rapporteur (1975-1976).

In 1985 he published Coco belles-nattes, the first of several books, some of which are autobiographical. Le Pont de la révolte followed in 1995 , and Le Passé sous silence in 1998 . He has also written plays such as Vite une femme and Sodome et Virginie . For his first major dramatic role in the film adaptation Uranus (1991) alongside Gerard Depardieu and Philippe Noiret , he received a nomination for the César as Best Supporting Actor , he finally in 1999 for the role of a taxman in the film comedy The Dinner Game won .

His Danish wife Jette, a dancer he met at the age of 21 in a theater production of Molière's The Conceited Sick in Denmark, died on March 19, 2007. The three sons Sören, Christophe and Erling emerged from the relationship. In 2008, Prévost appeared on stage in the play Federico, l'Espagne et moi , directed by his son Erling. He has been married to Françoise Marie Di Ciacco since April 2008.
