Daniel Schmidt (born August 16, 1990 in Bamberg ) is a German basketball player . He has been part of the Bundesliga club Skyliners Frankfurt since summer 2019 .

career

Schmidt began his basketball career in the U10 age range, played at BG Litzendorf, then at TSV Breitengüßbach and then went through the Brose Bamberg youth department . From 2006 he wore the TSV Breitengüßbach jersey in the men's area. The TSV is part of the Bamberg youth network and is one of the teams in which the Bamberg talents collect match practice. From 2008 Schmidt was also in the Bamberg Bundesliga squad and played in Germany's top division and in the EuroLeague . Schmidt did not make the breakthrough in Bamberg, but mostly played in the sponsorship teams (first Breitengüßbach, from 2013 FC Baunach ). With Bamberg he was a supplementary player six times German champion. In Baunach he was ProA top performer after promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga .

In the summer of 2016, Schmidt was signed by the Bundesliga promoted Science City Jena . After a year he moved within Thuringia to the Oettinger Rockets , also a newcomer to the Bundesliga. With the Rockets he missed relegation, the team was then disbanded, Schmidt returned to Bamberg. In the summer of 2019 he was signed by the Skyliners Frankfurt .

National team

Schmidt took part in the European Championships in 2010 and 2012 with the German U20 national team.
