Daniel Swarovski II

Daniel Swarovski II , (born February 13, 1914 in Wattens ; † June 23, 1992 ibid.) Was an Austrian author and Vice President of the Austrian Red Cross .

Life

Daniel II was the grandson of Daniel Swarovski , founder of the D. Swarovski company . His father was Fritz Swarovski, one of Daniel I's three sons. In 1935, Daniel Swarovski II joined the company and was appointed managing partner in 1946.

Daniel Swarovski II was the third generation leader, made up of Manfred Swarovski, Schwemberger Swarovski, Wilhelmine Schiestl and Gertrude Langes. During this time, the Swarovski company developed into the world's largest producer of glass stones and crystal glass. As a book author, Daniel II was also active in the Grail movement of the writer Oskar Ernst Bernhardt, alias Abd-ru-shin, which he supported.

Daniel II built up a voluntary welfare system for the Swarovski company. He started an extensive settlement program with company apartments for the company's workers. Following his philosophy, he wanted to give each employee their own house and garden. The company acquired 153,022 square meters of land in the municipality of Mils near Hall in Tyrol, which it made available to its employees for building in units of 1,000 square meters. The result was a housing estate with the character of an elegant residential area. Swarovski also gave its employees access to cheap loans.

Daniel Swarovski II was Vice President of the Austrian Red Cross , Councilor of Commerce , Honorary Senator of the Leopold Franzens University Innsbruck and honorary member of the Austrian-American Chamber of Commerce in New York .

Daniel Swarovski II was married to Maria (born Hupfau, 1919–2014).
