Danielle Hunter [ dəˈniːl ˈhʌntə ] (born October 29, 1994 in St. Catherine , Jamaica ) is an American American football player. He currently plays with the Minnesota Vikings in the National Football League (NFL) as a defensive end .

Early years

Danielle Hunter was born in Jamaica and moved to the United States when she was 8 years old. He attended Morton Ranch High School in Katy , Texas. In his four years on the football team, he accumulated 108 tackles and was considered one of the best defensive ends in the state. Hunter decided to attend Louisiana State University . After the third year, he decided to leave college and take part in the NFL Draft . In his 3 years in college, he had 142 tackles and 4.5 sacks .

NFL

In the NFL Draft 2015 he was selected in the 3rd round as the 88th player by the Minnesota Vikings . Hunter was awarded a four-year contract for $ 2.9 million.

After his first appearance in Week 1 against the San Francisco 49ers , Hunter was able to score four tackles and a half sack and force a fumble on his first start in Week 6 against the Kansas City Chiefs , which ended the game. He became an important part of the fifth best defense in the league and was able to finish the season with 33 tackles and 6 sacks. After Preston Smith of the Washington Redskins, he was the rookie with the most sacks and was appointed to the all-rookie team of the Pro Football Writers of America and the Pro Bowl in 2018 .
