Patrick Dupré

Patrick Dupré (born 1945 in Paris , France) is a French Op Art and Kinetic artist.

Act

While working for the aluminum group Pechiney in Paris, he created his first work “Skyscraper” in 1964 on an aluminum plate with the help of rubber, ink, sharpener , blade and a Shabu knife. From 1965 to 1968 he worked as a street artist and sold his works every Saturday and Sunday on the Boulevard Saint-Michel in Paris at the gates of the Lycée Saint-Louis . In 1968 he took part in the May uprisings in Paris.

Between 1971 and 1973 he developed his own techniques for reproducing engravings on aluminum foil. In the same years he also invented a new method for industrial engraving on silver, gold and metal dishes. He is also familiar with all etching techniques . He made artistic prints by hand, copperplate engravings , gravure prints and drypoint etchings .

He has been making Op Art jewelry based on his old works of art since 2012 and lives in the French provinces.

Exhibitions

  • 1971: he received the silver medal of the Paris Salon Bijorhca
  • 1971: Exhibition of objects designed by him at Christofle
  • 1971: Tion Expo Galerie Burdek Zurich, Switzerland
  • Together with Nicolas Schöffer he took part in the 1st exhibition of the visual Audio Porte de Versailles.
  • 1973: Exhibition in the Museum of Fine Arts in Leipzig
  • Between 1973 and 1980 his signed and numbered prints were published by Lahumière and sold worldwide. Several exhibitions took place in the summer in large international galleries and museums. He was part of the artist group around Jean Dewasne .
  • Exhibitions in Italy and France with BURN Visual Art Horacio Garcia Rossi - Luis Tomasello - Julio Le Parc - Hugo Demarco . Participation in all major Parisian salons. Exhibits in Cologne, London, Las Vegas and New York. 16 of his pictures are in the Paris National Library.
