Hugo Demarco

Hugo Demarco (born July 13, 1932 in Buenos Aires , Argentina , † 1995 in Paris , France) was an Argentinian kinetic artist and object artist who lived in France for a long time .

life and work

Hugo Demarco was born in Buenos Aires, but lived and worked for many years in Paris, where he joined the community of emigrated South American artists in the late 1950s. These included, among others, Julio Le Parc and Jesús Rafael Soto . In 1960 he had an exhibition, together with the Groupe de Recherche d'Art Visuel in his studio in Paris. In 1960, 1961 and 1967 he had important solo exhibitions in the Denise René gallery in Paris. In 1968 he took part in the 4th documenta in Kassel with a kinetic spatial object .

Demarco's work lives from colors and movement. He traveled the world with his art and had numerous personal exhibitions of his work, especially between 1961 and 1989. He also had joint exhibitions with his South American friends, in particular Julio Le Parc, Jesús Rafael Soto Soto, Horacio Garcia Rossi and Carlos Cruz -Diez . Hugo Demarco was professor of painting and graphics in Buenos Aires. In addition to his artistic career, he was the coach of the rugby team of the " Paris université club ". His works of art have been on view in the Demenga Art Collection Basel since 1989.
