The Penguin Point is a rocky headland on the west side of the entrance to Murphy Bay on the East Antarctic Georg V. Coast . It rises up to 95 and forms the end of a 5 km long granite wall .
It was discovered and named in 1912 by the Australian geologist Cecil Thomas Madigan (1889-1947) led part of the Australasian Antarctic Expedition (1911-1914) under the direction of the Australian polar explorer Douglas Mawson .
