Professional career

In 1997, Häußler switched to the professional warehouse and was signed by Wilfried Sauerland . His trainer was Manfred Wolke . In 2000 he won the German super middleweight championship with a points win over Patrick Pipa.

On January 27, 2001 he got the chance against the Russian Andrei Schkalikow to box for the European Championship. Despite a downpour, he just won the belt on points. He was then able to defend the title six times, including against the Beyer kennel Glenn Catley , but finally lost it on October 4, 2003 due to a clear defeat on points to the Dane Mads Larsen .

Soon afterwards, however, the EM title became vacant again and Häussler was given the opportunity to fight for the EBU belt again. His opponent this time was the Dane Rudy Markussen , who at this point, like his compatriot Larsen, had only lost to Sven Ottke . In this fight, Häussler had to go down three times and ultimately lost on points. In his only fight so far in the USA , he suffered a controversial point defeat in December 2004 against the unknown Syrian Mohammad Said.

Häussler boxed again on December 8, 2007 in Basel against Cristian Sanavia for the European Super Middleweight Championship (EBU). The fight was tied after twelve rounds, whereby Sanavia defended his title as the reigning European champion.

Then Danilo Häußler got the first opportunity to box for a world championship title. On October 25, 2008, he met the WBA title holder Mikkel Kessler from Denmark in Oldenburg . Kessler lived up to his clear favorite role, dominated the fight and won in the third round by knockout. Häussler ended his active career after this defeat.
