Rudy Markussen (born July 24, 1977 in Copenhagen , Denmark ) is a Danish professional boxer and former European champion of the EBU in the super middleweight division.

As an amateur boxer, he won 34 of 38 fights.

In 1997 Markussen turned professional at the age of 20. After 27 victorious fights, he finally got the chance on November 16, 2002 to box against Sven Ottke (28-0) for the IBF world title in super middleweight. However, Markussen lost the fight on points. But already in his next fight in October 2003, he won the intercontinental championship of the WBO super middleweight by knockout in the second round against James Crawford (38-5) . Less than five months later he boxed against the North American champions Kabary Salem (23-2); the fight ended valueless after Markussen was injured in the first round by an accidental headbutt and was unable to continue fighting.

On July 24th, 2004 he won by unanimous points victory against the German Danilo Häußler and became the new European champion in the super middleweight division. On June 17, 2005 he won by knockout in the first round against former world champion Hacine Cherifi .

On October 14, 2006, he suffered his first premature defeat; he lost by knockout in round seven against Russian champion Sergej Tatewosjan, but then won four fights in a row by knockout and thus received another chance for a world title. On February 18, 2012 he boxed against the Briton Brian Magee (35-4-1) for the interim World Championship of the WBA , but was defeated by knockout in the fifth round.

He lost prematurely to Patrick Nielsen (27-1) in December 2015.
