The former Dankelsried bathhouse is a monument built around 1735 in the Dankelsried district of the Upper Swabian market of Erkheim and was fed by the mineral spring Dankelsried .

history

John Huith received in 1735 from the sub Hospital Memmingen to build a bathhouse permission. The topping-out ceremony was celebrated on September 10, 1735 . At that time, the bath house consisted of 35 bath rooms, which were fed by 55 water pipes via wooden dikes . In the following year the pool already had a large number of visitors. The Countess Königsegg-Rothenfels arrived on June 15, 1742 for a longer stay. Following the far-reaching call, the keeper of the Bavarian rule of Mindelheim , Franz Anton von Zinth with his wife and Count Fugger also came . High-ranking guests from the surrounding area also visited the pool, including the Mayor of Memmingen, Friedrich von Stoll zu Wespach . On October 9, 1767, the council of the free imperial city of Memmingen could also appoint the Elector Maximilian III. Greet Joseph in the bathroom. The bath was badly damaged by the looting and devastation in the war years 1796 to 1800. In 1805 the Badwirt Johann Michael Karrer bought the farm, the economy and the bath, in 1840 the bath closed.

Only two tiled stoves by Michael Hafner and Georg Stephan from Frickenhausen and an oak staircase have survived from the rich furnishings . In the 1970s, the mineral spring was redesigned. The bathhouse underwent extensive renovations in 1984 and 1985. A sandstone plaque with the coats of arms of the lower hospital and the imperial city of Memmingen and an inscription was attached to the house.
