Life

Frede grew up in Sondershausen ( Kyffhäuserkreis ), graduated from high school in 2000 and then moved to Cologne for community service. Already at this time he started working as a freelance artist and self-taught photographer. 2005 - 2012 he was also a member of the cabaret duo " P.Laste & E.Laste " with two solo programs throughout Germany. Until 2014 mostly project-related artistically, Frede has been working in his own studio in Cologne-Porz since 2015 .

As a freelance artist, Frede deals with the translation of traditional concepts of painting and photography into everyday perspectives that are increasingly shaped by digital processes.

From 2004 to 2012 he initially designed backdrops for various theater pieces that consisted of pure screen projections. In this collaboration with theater director Gregor Leschig ("Netaffairs - Heiner Müller's Quartet and Life on the Internet", "Am I Work?" And "Play Sisyphos"), socially critical issues move into the focus of his works.

His exhibition “Painted Boxes”, which later appears in various group and solo exhibitions as “Serial Rectangles”, attracted greater attention for the first time. In 2016, Frede initiated his photographic intervention “I was here” for the first time. This confronts people living today with the German past at locations where the perpetrators were committed during the Nazi era. With the photo series "Young Men and Carcasses" he is represented in exhibitions worldwide from 2017 to 2018.

In his latest pictures, Frede addresses the 4th industrial revolution in which he lets robots work for them in an increasingly independent way.

In his diverse work, Danny Frede deals with questions of the digital revolution , consumption and problems of automation .
