Dansbandskampen was a music competition on Swedish television between 2008 and 2010 . Peter Settmann was the producer and presenter in the first two seasons , and Christine Meltzer presented in the third season . On May 4, 2011, the broadcaster SVT announced that it would end Dansbandkampen.

The recording of the first two seasons took place in the Svenska Hem Arena on Tosterön. The third season was recorded in Nyaparken in Norrköping .
Each tournament was divided into two stages, the first playing an optional song that is not normally associated with dance groups. Then came the second stage, Dance Band Classics, in which a famous dance band song was played. In the finale, those who continued were also allowed to play a newly written, self-produced song, and since there were only two bands left, both of them played each version of a particular given song.
Commentators helped viewers showcase Sweden's best dance band by rating the bands performances, but viewers determined the outcome by voting over the phone for their favorites.
On May 4, 2011, SVT announced that the program had been put on hold.
The competition put dance culture in a new light in Sweden's media, as it had only played a modest role in the past. Attempts to publicize the concept outside of Sweden were discussed and started with the disco-folk version in Poland and the United States. The musicians' association criticized Swedish television because the participants were only paid 1500 crowns per band per evening, which was well below the usual fees.
