Dante Vanzeir (born April 16, 1998 ) is a Belgian football player who is under contract with Royale Union Saint-Gilloise . He plays as a storm .
societies
Vanzeir started his career at KRC Genk in the First Division of Belgium. Vanzeir made his Jupiler Pro League debut on September 18, 2016 against RSC Anderlecht. As a result of a torn cruciate ligament, he was injured for the rest of the season from mid-October 2016. In the 2017/18 season he was not part of the squad for most of the games. In fact, he was only on the pitch for five out of 40 games, and none for the entire duration.
Nevertheless, his contract was extended by one year by Genk in June 2018, so that he was now under contract with the club until summer 2021. At the same time, Vanzeir was loaned to KFCO Beerschot Wilrijk , who plays in the second division , for the 2018/19 season. There he developed into a regular player who was used in 37 of 40 games.
Despite Beerschot's efforts, this loan was not extended. For a short time Vanzeir was in Genk's squad and won the Belgian Supercup against KV Mechelen with this club . Then another loan was concluded for the 2019/20 season, of all things to KV Mechelen, who played in the First Division this season.
For Mechelen, he played 18 out of 29 possible games in Division 1A before it was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic . At the end of the season he first returned to the Ghent squad. At the end of July 2020, he moved to Royale Union Saint-Gilloise in Division 1B , where he signed a contract with a term of three years with an option for another year.
National team
For the U-16 national team, Vanzeir was used eight times and scored one goal. With the U-17 he first took part in the U-17 European Championship in Bulgaria in May 2015 and reached the semi-finals with the team, which qualified them for the U-17 World Championship in Chile . There he came with the team to the semi-finals. In 2016 he was part of the Belgian U-19 national team .
On September 6, 2019, he played for the Belgian U-21 national team for the first time in a qualifying match for the U-21 European Championship 2021 against Wales.
