from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Dany Carrel (real. Yvonne Suzanne Chazelles du Chaxel ; born September 20, 1932 in Tourane , Annam , French Indochina ) is a French actress .

Life

Carrel, illegitimate daughter of a Vietnamese mother, was sent to France after the untimely death of her French father, where she attended Bible school.

Director Henri Decoin , who cast her in her first film, Dortoir des grandes , gave her the stage name Carrel , which she herself expanded to include Dany . She initially played minor roles in melodramas and comedies until she got major roles in B-films . In the 1960s she worked across Europe, often in agent and other genre films. She was also seen frequently on the theater stage.

From 1972 she shifted more to work for television and the stage; In 1991 she wrote an autobiographical novel, the filming of which she supervised herself in 1994 - and in which she partly plays herself.

Carrel was known for her short, often red hair, which was unusual in those years; in addition, she played in a number of scenes that were quite revealing for this time.
