The king's daphne ( Daphne blagayana ) is a plant type from the genus Daphne ( Daphne ) in the family of Thymelaeaceae .

features

The king's daphne is an evergreen dwarf shrub that forms underground runners and reaches heights of up to 30 centimeters. The stem is long creeping and ascending. The leaves measure (2) 3 to 6 × 1 to 1.5 centimeters and are dark green. The inflorescences consist of (5) 10 to 15 (20) flowers . Cover sheets are provided. The fruits are white-yellow.

The flowering period extends from April to May.

The number of chromosomes is 2n = 18.

Occurrence

The king's daphne occurs in the Balkans in light deciduous and coniferous forests, on forest meadows and on stony slopes at altitudes of up to 1200 meters.

The king's daphne is rarely used as an ornamental plant for groups of trees.
