The olive tree Similar Seidelbast ( Daphne oleoides ) is a plant type from the genus Seidelbast ( Daphne ) in the family of Thymelaeaceae .
features
The olive-like daphne is an evergreen dwarf shrub that reaches heights of up to 40 (60) centimeters. The plant is upright. The leaves measure 1 to 2.5 (3) × 0.4 to 0.6 (1.2) centimeters and are greyish or yellowish green.
The flowers are usually arranged in three to five-flowered (rarely two- to eight-flowered) inflorescences. The cover sheets are missing or very small. They measure 2 × 1 millimeter. The fruits are orange-red.
The flowering period extends from May to June.
The number of chromosomes is 2n = 18.
Occurrence
The olive-like daphne occurs from the Mediterranean area to northern Iran on stony slopes, between rocks, in meadows on limestone, in mountain forests and in hedgehog upholstered heaths at altitudes of (450) 1400 to 2200 (2800) meters.

The olive-like daphne is rarely used as an ornamental plant for rock gardens and alpine houses.
