The inhabitants of the Chaouia region trace their ancestry back to Arab origins. The people of today's city, however, are often of Berber descent and mostly immigrated here from the mountain and desert regions of southern Morocco in the second half of the 20th century.
Economy and history
A fishing village at the beginning of the 20th century , Dar Bouazza has developed into a predominantly service-oriented city since the independence of Morocco (1956). The main role is played by the beaches of Tamaris and the already developed inner-Moroccan tourism in the greater Casablanca area.
