The Darband Cave is a cave in the province of Gilan in the western Alborz Mountains . It contains the first known evidence of ancient Paleolithic cave life in Iran . A collection of stone artifacts and fauna remains have been compiled by a group of Iranian archaeologists from the Center for Paleolithic Research of the National Museum of Iran and ICHTO (Iran Cultural Heritage & Tourism Organization) from Gilan.
