Daria Eva Bijak

Daria Eva Bijak (born November 12, 1985 in Racibórz ) is a German gymnast .

Daria Eva Bijak lives in Greven , where she attended the Augustinianum high school and is studying film studies with a gymnastics scholarship at the University of Utah . Before that she studied mathematics in Germany, but dropped out to become an actress or musical artist. In Utah, she competes for the Utah Red Rocks . In their childhood and youth the family led an unsteady life, in 12 years they moved 20 times. As a gymnast, Bijak first made a name for herself in 1998 when she became four-time German junior champion, and in 2000 she even won five titles. Before moving to the USA, she played for the Toyota Cologne gymnastics team in the Tunbundesliga and was trained by Shanna Poljakova.

In the senior sector, Bijak competed at the 2002 World Championships in Debrecen , 2003 in Anaheim , 2005 in Melbourne and 2006 in Denmark . In 2003 she was 20th in the all-around competition, in 2005 eighth. At German championships she won the all-around title in 2005 and 2006, as well as the jumping and ground titles in 2005 and parallel bars in 2006 . In 2004 she won the title with the team.

The 2004 Olympic Games of Athens suffered missed Bijak due to a hamstring injury in 2003. After moving to the USA in 2006, she did not take part in any competition in or for Germany for the whole of 2007. Therefore, her start at the German championships in Chemnitz in 2008 , which were also Olympic qualifications, came as a surprise to many observers. Due to good performances, she finished fourth in the all-around competition, she was able to qualify for the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing . In the all-around competition, however, she showed a very poor performance. After the Olympic Games, the 22-year-old ended her international career because she saw no chance against international competition. She went to university for two more years.
