Darian Pavli

Darian Pavli (born April 7, 1975 in Vlora ) is an Albanian lawyer and judge at the European Court of Human Rights .

Live and act

Pavli studied law at the University of Tirana from 1993 , where he obtained a Bachelor of Laws in 1997. In 1998 he completed his Master of Laws at the Central European University in Budapest. He then worked as a lawyer for the OSCE in Tirana and was also a lecturer in constitutional law at the University of Tirana. After a research stay at New York University , Pavli obtained another master's degree there in 2001. He then worked for various human rights organizations, including Human Rights Watch . Later he was a member of various drafting groups at European and international level as well as the main author of the Albanian civil and criminal law reforms of 2012. He subsequently worked as an expert and advisor on human rights issues for the Albanian Parliament and the Council of Europe .

In October 2018, Pavli was elected as the representative of Albania and successor to Ledi Bianku as judge at the European Court of Human Rights . He took up his term of office, which is expected to last until 2028, on January 7, 2019.
