Dario Kostović (born August 8, 1980 in Split , SR Croatia ) is a former Swiss - Croatian ice hockey player who was active for many years at various clubs in the National League A and at the KHL Medveščak Zagreb . He has been working as a trainer since retiring in 2015.
Career
Dario Kostović began his career as an ice hockey player in the youth division of the EHC Wettingen-Baden and later moved to the EHC Kloten , with whose A-youth he became Swiss elite junior champion in the 1998/99 season . From 1999 to 2005 the attacker for the first team in the Kloten played National League A , where he in the 2000/01 season and two appearances for the HC Thurgau from the National League B came. He spent the entire 2005/06 season at the second division Lausanne HC before he was on the ice for HC Ambrì-Piotta in the NLA for a year . After two and a half years with HC Lugano , the dual citizen signed in the middle of the 2009/10 season with the reigning Champions Hockey League winner ZSC Lions , to whom he was loaned until the end of the season. For the 2010/11 season he returned to Lugano.
In 2011 Kostović moved to the Croatian club KHL Medveščak Zagreb from the Austrian Ice Hockey League , with whom he has been playing in the Continental Hockey League since 2013 . In addition, he also regularly takes part in the playoff games of the Croatian league with the Zagreb second team and became Croatian champions with the team in 2012, 2013 and 2014 .
In 2015 he ended his career and became a junior coach at EHC Bülach .
International
Kostović only made his debut for the Croatian national team at the age of 33 at the 2014 World Cup in Division I. Although he had no tournament experience with the national team, he was immediately named captain of the team and was promoted from Division II Right away the second place in the B group of Division I.
