Darkest Era are a British heavy metal band.
style
Their music is stylistically reminiscent of Bathory and Primordial , but singer Dwayne Maguire sounds more melodic than Primordial frontman Alan Nemtheanga. The band itself calls their style Celtic Metal .
history
The band was formed in Northern Ireland in 2005 under the name Nemesis , but renamed themselves to Darkest Era in 2007 . After a demo recording on their own under the old band name, Darkest Era were able to win the German label Northern Silence / Eyes Like Snow for their first official release The Journey Through Damnation . In the summer of 2008, the band played at the Day of Darkness Festival, the largest heavy metal festival in Ireland. In February 2009 Darkest Era played their first gig outside of Great Britain and Ireland in Würzburg. In 2011 the debut album The Last Caress Of Light was released on Metal Blade Records. For the end of 2012 the band has been confirmed as support for the folk metal band Arkona on their European tour.
