Darmani rock (* 17th April 1996 in Philadelphia , Pennsylvania ) is an American boxer in the heavyweight division .

Amateur career

Darmani Rock grew up in the Germantown neighborhood and started boxing when he was twelve. With a height of 1.96 m, he weighs around 113 kg. In 2013 he won the National Police Athletic Championships in California.

In 2014 he won the US Youth Championships in Nevada and was then sent to the Pan American Youth Championships in Ecuador, where he defeated the Argentinian Kevin Espindola 3-0 in the final and thus also won the gold medal here. He also took part in the 2014 Youth World Championships in Bulgaria, reached the finals through early victories against the starters from Kazakhstan, England and Hungary and beat the German Peter Kadiru on points in the fight for the gold medal . He then took part in the 2014 Summer Youth Olympic Games in China and won the silver medal after losing to Peter Kadiru in the final this time. Previously, he had moved into the semifinals because of the non-appearance ( walkover ) of the Argentinian Kevin Espindola and had defeated the Russian Marat Kerimchanow on points. For 2014 he was honored with the Briscoe Award as Pennsylvania's Amateur Boxer of the Year.

In 2015 he started in the elite class (adults) for the first time, winning the US championships in Washington and the National Golden Gloves in Nevada.

Professional career

In February 2016 he signed a professional contract with Roc Nation Sports and made his successful professional debut in May 2016.
