history
In 1822, Darmstadt was founded by American and English settlers. The first German settlers came in 1848. The parish in Darmstadt has existed since 1847. There has been a primary school in the village since 1853. The place has been called Darmstadt since 1867. Darmstadt has had city rights since 1973.
