Darren Hayes
Darren Stanley Hayes (born May 8, 1972 in Brisbane ) is an Australian pop singer. He became known as the singer of the duo Savage Garden .
Career
Darren Hayes has become known as the front man and singer of the Australian pop duo Savage Garden , who have the record for "Best Selling Australian Act Ever". At that time he had hits worldwide with singles such as To the Moon & Back , I Knew I Loved You , Truly Madly Deeply and Affirmation (which he performed at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney alongside his colleague Daniel Jones ).
In autumn 2001 the end of the band was announced. A short time later, Hayes began a solo career with his debut album Spin . The first two of a total of four singles, Insatiable and Strange Relationship , were the most successful songs from it.
Darren Hayes describes his first album as a mixture of R&B , pop and soul and names greats like Marvin Gaye and Michael Jackson as his musical role models .
In September 2004 his second solo album "The Tension and the Spark" was released. His first single from it, "Pop! Ular" is an electronic up-beat song that pokes fun at the music industry. The second single "Darkness", however, is a melancholy ballad. Since “The Tension and the Spark” flopped, also due to the lack of a promo from the record company, no further singles were released from it. In 2006, Hayes announced that he would be separating from his record company and making future releases under his own label.
The first single of the third solo album "On the Verge of Something Wonderful" was released in July 2007. On August 20, 2007 followed (initially only in Great Britain and Australia) the album entitled "This Delicate Thing We've Made", which was recorded in the famous Mayfair Studios in north London. Hayes produced it with the help of u. a. Justin Shave and Robert Conley. Another well-known name appears in the production: Guy Chambers . Darren Hayes wrote the song "Who Would Have Thought" with him.
Hayes-inspired retro-pop album based on the 1980s was produced with the help of the Fairlight Synthesizer, which u. a. used by Peter Gabriel. In the fall of 2007 Darren Hayes was live with his album on "The Time Machine Tour". First the tour through his new home Great Britain brought him to the prestigious “Royal Albert Hall” in London, and later to Australia.
In 2008, Hayes finally completed the work with “This Delicate Film We've Made”, a collection of animated videos of selected tracks from the album “This Delicate Thing We've Made”. The singer worked here with Richard Cullen (Pixelfing) and Damien Hale, among others.
On June 24th 2011 the first release of the album "Talk Talk Talk" was released. The album “Secret Codes and Battleships” was finally released under Sony / Universal in October.
Private
On June 19, 2006, he married his friend Richard Cullen in London. The two had been a couple for two years then, but it wasn't until the announcement of the wedding that Hayes publicly admitted his homosexuality.
