Darrin P. Lunde

Darrin Peter Lunde (born June 7, 1969 ) is an American mammal loge , non-fiction author and museum employee. He mainly deals with small mammals .

Life

Lunde received his Bachelor of Science degree from Cornell University in 1991 . In 2002 he graduated with a Master of Arts degree in Ecology , Evolutionary Biology and Systematics from City College of New York .

Lunde was the collections manager at the American Museum of Natural History and he is the senior museum expert at the Smithsonian Institution's National Museum of Natural History . His duties include overseeing collection management activities in the mammals department, including access, sample preparation, cataloging, installing the exhibits, curating, loaning items, requesting information and assisting visitors.

Lunde is one of the Erstbeschreibern of species Chodsigoa caovansunga , Coccymys kirrhos , Leptomys arfakensis , Leptomys paul , Tonkinomys daovantieni , Saxatilomys Paulinae , Neacomys dubosti , Neacomys Paracou , Crocidura annamitensis , Crocidura cranbrooki , Crocidura guy and of the genera Brassomys , Niumbaha and Hyladelphis .

Lunde has published eleven books, ten of which are for a young audience. In 2016 he brought under the title The Naturalist: Theodore Roosevelt; A Lifetime of Exploration, and the Triumph of American Natural History published its first non-fiction book aimed at adults. In 2008 he worked on the book A Guide to the Mammals of China by Andrew T. Smith . He has also written articles for specialist journals, including American Museum Novitates , Bulletin of the American Museum of Natural History, and Mammal Study .
