The food house ( spelling DAS FUTTERHAUS ) is one of the largest pet trade companies in Germany with almost 400 locations nationwide. The specialist retail chain is also represented in over 40 locations in Austria. The retail chain has 45,000 listed products, a range of food and supplies specifically for pets . Depending on the size of the market, the locations have the live animal departments of aquaristics, rodents, birds, terrariums, ponds and the additional specialist departments for riding and fishing.
history
In 1987 Herwig and Marion Eggerstedt opened the first Das Futterhaus-Markt in Pinneberg (Schleswig-Holstein). In 1993 the Eggerstedts expanded their specialist retail concept into a franchise system. The feed house has its headquarters in Elmshorn near Hamburg and has been a certified member of the German Franchise Association since 2011 . Das Futterhaus has been represented in Austria since 2009. In 2013 the Das Futterhaus Group was founded by the German Franchise Association e. V. (DFV) once again confirmed the successful implementation of quality standards in the franchise system and the satisfaction of the franchise partners. The company's 300th store opened in 2015. In 2017 the group celebrated its 30th anniversary.
At the end of 2019, the group had 385 stores and around 120 franchise partners in Germany and Austria. In 2019, Das Futterhaus achieved sales of EUR 401 million with a plus of 9.3 percent.
