the secret of my family
The Secret of My Family is a four-part German documentary series that was broadcast in 2008 on Erste .
In each episode, a prominent figure in Germany sets out to find their family roots. The celebrities are Marie-Luise Marjan , Armin Rohde , Christine Neubauer and Peter Maffay .
The series is based on the British genealogy documentary series Who Do You Think You Are? Which has been produced since 2004 . ( BBC ). There are authorized adaptations of the British original on Canadian (2007–2008), Australian (since 2008), Irish (2008–2009), US (2010–2012) and Finnish (since 2012) television. In Germany, between 2011 and 2012 , RTL Living showed some episodes of the British (two episodes) and American (17 episodes) of the series for the first time under the title In the footsteps of my ancestors .
The German series was not continued. There were also only two episodes of the program On the Trail of My Ancestors , which was shown on ZDF in 2007 (with Mariele Millowitsch and Walter Sittler ). This means that the series Ancestors Wanted, produced by WDR since 2006 , is the only one on German television that deals with the families of celebrities. The counterpart to this is the series The Trace of Ancestors - Every Family Has a Secret of the MDR , in which interested people have been accompanied in their genealogical research since 2006.
