Daun Viaduct

The Daun Viaduct is a former railway bridge on the Wengerohr – Daun railway line near Daun . Today the Maare-Mosel-Radweg leads over the viaduct . The bridge offers a delightful view of the city of Daun.

history

The Daun Viaduct was built between 1907 and 1909 when the Wengerohr-Daun railway was built. In 1981 passenger traffic was discontinued, in 1988 the line was closed when goods traffic was discontinued. The tracks were removed as early as 1990. In August 2000, a cycle path was finally opened on the former railway line.

Since 1986 there has been a model railway museum of the railways in Daun, which shows the station and the viaduct.

The bridge is an arch bridge made of stone with five arches. The viaduct crosses federal highway 257 over a length of 103 meters . The height is 30 meters. The span of the arches is 16 meters. The construction work for the single-track railway viaduct was carried out by the Hochtief company , the construction costs amounted to 141,000 marks.
