Dave (real name David Orobosa Omoregie ; born June 5, 1998 in Streatham , London ), also known as Santan Dave and Dave Santan , is a British rapper and actor.

Career

In May 2015, Dave, who grew up in the southern London borough of Streatham , started uploading his first freestyles to YouTube . There his publications received up to 500,000 views. In addition to live sessions for the British radio station BBC Radio 1Xtra , he also gained attention in 2016 through festival appearances and tours with other musicians.

Following a large number of single releases, including a collaboration with the American rapper Drake , his first Extended Play Six Paths was released in autumn 2016 , which entered the UK album charts at number 76 . His second EP Game Over followed in November 2017 , with which he came in 13th. Around the same time, Dave was voted the UK's Best Newcomer 2017 at the MOBO Awards .

He announced his debut album for 2018 in an interview. At the beginning of October 2018, the single Funky Friday was released in collaboration with Fredo, which already entered the single charts at number 1 in the week of release and is therefore viewed by some British scene officials as a major milestone in the current music industry in the United Kingdom. On March 8, 2019, Dave released the studio album Psychodrama . It reached number 1 on the UK charts and was awarded gold . It also received the Brit Award for the best British album of the year. At the UK's most important music award, Dave was also nominated in three other categories.
