Dave Bass

Dave Bass (born June 21, 1950 ) is an American lawyer and jazz pianist .

Bass grew up in Cincinnati, studied at Berklee College of Music and worked as an accompanist for Brenda Lee , Bobby McFerrin and Eddie Henderson in the 1960s and 70s . As a result of a wrist injury, he had to give up his music career and initially left the music scene to study law at the University of California, Irvine Social Ecology and the UCLA Law School. Bass practiced as a lawyer after receiving his doctorate in 1992. From 1996 he served in the California State Attorney General's office .

After his retirement he worked as a jazz pianist again. In 2009 the live album Gone was created in California , on which u. a. Ernie Watts , Gary Brown and Babatunde Lea were involved. In 2015 he released the album NYC Sessions , with material that was created in December 2012 while recording in New York with musicians such as Conrad Herwig , Chris Washburne , Enrique Fernandez , Phil Woods , Harvie Swartz , Ignacio Berroa and vocalist Karrin Allyson .
