Dave Ellis (athlete)
Dave Ellis (actually David John Ellis; born April 25, 1937 in Toronto ) is a former Canadian long-distance runner .
When the Boston Marathon in 1964 , he finished sixth.
In 1966 he came in sixth again in Boston . At the British Empire and Commonwealth Games in Kingston , he was sixth over six miles and fourth in the marathon .
The following year he finished second in the Canadian Marathon Championship and won silver over 10,000 m at the 1967 Pan American Games in Winnipeg .
At the 1968 Olympic Games in Mexico City, he ran over 10,000 m in 26th place. In the run over 5000 m he did not reach the goal.
In 1970 he finished 15th at the British Commonwealth Games in Edinburgh over 10,000 m and was eliminated over 5000 m in the preliminary run.
Twice he was Canadian champion over 5000 m or three miles (1965, 1967), three times over 10,000 m or six miles (1963, 1966, 1967) and twice in cross country (1962, 1966).
